Trauma Aware Yoga

A resource for building resilience...

Trauma Aware Yoga is a modified style supportive of people experiencing the impacts of complex stress & /trauma. This is facilitated through the practice of movement, guided breath-work, meditation & relaxation.

The purpose is to practice mindful awareness of how you move & breathe, using gentle yoga forms, stretches & movement.

Your teacher is trained in offering Trauma-Informed classes & understands the challenges of trauma recovery & stress management.

Recover after a hard workout or a hard week...

A slower practice to stretch, relax and restore. Classes begin with mindful awareness & breathing practices. Physical (asana) practice is focused on balancing targeted stretching with poses that support joints, avoid muscle fatigue & calm the nervous system. Concludes with guided meditation/relaxation (Yoga Nidra) - allowing the body & mind to reflect, rebalance & restore.

Yoga Nidra (Guided Relaxation)

Relax, Reset, Restore

Yoga Nidra is a guided relaxation technique excellent for beginners through to experienced practitioners. 

Perfect for those who think they can't meditate!

 

Described as a 'waking / aware sleep', this physically gentle technique is commonly practiced lying down - a popular alternative to traditional seated meditation (can also be done seated).

 

Yoga Nidra invites a guided process that is easily followed - improving focus while cultivating deep relaxation. Enjoyed by many for supporting stress, sleep issues, anxiety, depression & fatigue. 

Classes ideally run from 30 - 60 mins duration.

Pilates Stretches

Chair Assisted Yoga

A Supported Practice...

Chair assisted yoga classes offer the supportive option of using a chair to sit down on rather than the floor. Excellent for anyone with issues of mobility that prevent getting down on the floor. A good portion of the class still involves standing, however chairs also make an excellent prop to support strengthening, balance poses & to enhance mobility. 

Full chair classes (remaining seated throughout) are also offered.
